Helpful information on various topics such as clothing that can help decrease the effects of sun exposure by blocking uv rays. Two books to help understanding of how to drink alcohol in a safe way and a third book, reviewed,a memoir written by the child of alcoholic parents. Information on melamine in baby formula, pthalates in toiletries. And information on calorie and carbohydrate intake. For some healthful recipes, such as pork and cabbage, see recipes.
1. Sun Exposure
Sun Chasers make American Made clothing with UV protection for infants and toddlers.
This specialized clothing for infants and toddlers provides sun protection to make your time spent outside safer. The UV rays are the harmful rays and it is important for babies and toddlers to have this protection from the strong summer sun.

2. Healthy Eating
HOW TO ADD MILK TO YOUR DIET: Drink European style morning coffee. Heat milk gently and then combine in equal amounts with your morning coffee. Europeans use large coffee cups. Fill the cup half full with coffee and then add the warmed milk. Two cups of this and you are well on your way to fulfilling your daily requirement for milk. Incidentally, this is only done in the morning. The cups shrink for lunch and for mid afternoon you are into espresso size where it is a tiny cup with about 1/4 inch of syrupy coffee in which you are meant to add a half cube of brown sugar. Then stir with the little spoon as you sit outside a sidewalk cafe, stirring and sipping.

Do you know which foods you can eat to help lower your cholesterol? Here are four for you to consider.
1) Oatmeal or Oat Bran
2) Walnuts
3) Fatty fish such as mackeral, lake trout, herring, sardines, salmon
4) Olive oil, extra virgin or virgin

Do you know the recommended limits for daily consumption of fat calories and carbohydrates. Well, here they are for 2,000 calorie diet:  total fat, less than 65 grams.  Total carbohydrates, less than 300 grams. So think about this. One tablespoon of mayonnaise has ten grams of fat.  One potato chip has one gram of carbohydrate.
3. Skincare
FYI-A recent study on pthalates in baby bath and skin care products, suggests that fragrance free products are a good choice for parents to make, that is a gentle fragrance free soap for washing, and petroleum jelly for moisturizing.
The two following products in their list of ingredients show them to be free of pthalates-1) Baby Magic Baby Shampoo by Mennen and 2) Vaseline Petroleum Jelly by Unilver. Please check with your physician or pharmacist for further information.
4. Baby Formula
The melamine in baby formula is confined to the Chinese mainland so there is no cause for concern about your baby if you live in the USA. We feel sad for all the families in China worrying about their babies health and hope the authorities get the proper controls in place. Melamine in pet food imported from China was a problem in the USA a few years ago. we are still hoping to find baby food produced in this country. Failing that, just remember, home made baby food is easily within your grasp if you have a blender or a food processor. The trick is to make enough for only Chicken, for example, cooked and ground with two days and refrigerate immediately after making in just the size portion you need to eliminate heating, repackaging, refrigerating and reheating. You don't want to do that. Start with making  3 portions of cooked chicken and three portions of a cooked vegetable and see how you progress.
5. Food Supplements

Vitamin Supplements-Are they good for you? A new study in Denmark tries to evaluate the benefits of supplemental vitamins. Well, all we can say is this: Fresh fruits and vegetables have vitamins as do dairy products, fish and meat. Balanced diets are recommended by nutritionists. We see that as compelling.

Exercise
Take your dog for a walk each day. It translates to good health for both of you. Doctors are recommending three ten minute walks each day as keeping weight down and good for your cardiac health. Be mindful of the outside temperture when the weather is extreme. Too hot or too cold is stressful for your heart.

Garlic juice, reputedly, helps keep a dog free from worms and also acts as an insect repellant.
A dog treat would be nice.
