Turmeric is one of those spices we should all use more often. Research shows it to be beneficial in laboratory experiments with controlling or slowing disease in laboratory animals. In addition, in India where turmeric is used regularly, especially as an ingredient in curry powder, the incidence of various diseases is less than elsewhere in the world.
We suggest three ways to use turmeric: Crunchy barley with mushrooms and ginger; two vegetable dips with yogurt; steamed cauliflower. Try the recipes. They’re easy and really good for you.

COFFEE-the COFFEE EXPERIENCE. Use the contact form to tells us about yours. This is Part One. We have tried various methods for making coffee including buying green beans, roasting them and of course brewing it. We found that successfully finding consistent quality in green beans was difficult. Sometimes they were great, sometimes not. Home roasting was a bit tedious but do-able provided the bean quality was high enough but it was discouraging when the quality was inconsistent. Sadly, an amateur could'nt tell beforehand. The next step was to try whole beans we could grind ourselves as needed. Clearly, this is a perfect way to get started on the road to delicious coffee. But you do need to be aware that unless the grinding mechanism can be immersed in water, you will be tasting the rancid smell that builds up over tiume as the oily residue accumulates in the grinder. Check back soon for Part Two.
