Overview: American Made Chocolate is high quality, affordable, and offered in various styles: American Made Chocolate truffles, boxed and of course, American made chocolate bars all made in the USA. Chocolate has been around for 3,000 years. Chocolate comes from the cacao tree, cultivated since 1,500 BC in South America. The process requires time and skill. First you need to ferment the beans. The process then requires drying, roasting, breaking the shells, so you can get at the nibs. These nibs are ground and liquefied, yielding a chocolate liquor which is made into cocoa solids and cocoa butter. Now the chocolatiers the world over, including American candy makers are ready to go to work making the champagne truffles or the Grand Marnier truffles that no one can resist. Chocolates are the most popular Valentine gift in the western world.

The Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is based in the old-west town of Durango in southwestern Colorado. From its 53,000 square foot factory, the Company manufactures an extensive line of premium chocolate candies delivered fresh by its fleet of refrigerated trucks. The factory typically produces approximately 300 chocolate candies and other confectionery products, using proprietary recipes developed primarily by its master candy maker. These products include many varieties of clusters, caramels, creams, meltaways, truffles and molded chocolates. Individual stores prepare a variety of caramel and candy apples, fudge, chocolate items and confections in full view of the customer using traditional cooking utensils such as copper kettles on gas-fired stoves and marble slab cooling tables. They also offer a selection of sugar free chocolates. Frank Crail, the founder, had a dream of raising his family in a quiet, small town environment. It came down to either a car wash or a chocolate shop, recalls the father of seven. I think I made the right choice.

American Made chocolate comes to us from Valomilk in Kansas City. They use only the finest all natural ingredients. The pure milk chocolate is made from a 1931 recipe. Refining rollers are set to produce a particle size of only .0006 of an inch, then they use a forty-eight hour conch (mixing) time. The results are a very fine, smooth European style chocolate. Their cocoa beans and cocoa butter come from the Ivory Coast of Africa. They use only pure vanilla in,the not artificial vanillin like many others do. Finally the chocolate is hand tempered (a lost art by most companies) to make it just right. The creamy flowing marshmallow center is made from fresh corn syrup, pure cane sugar, distilled water, pan dried (hand made) egg whites, pure Bourbon vanilla from Madagascar and a touch of salt. You can buy it at these two websites: Groovy Candy Company see page 12, and Old Time Candy. see page 8

Nothing artificial. No additives. No preservatives. This
is carefully cooked, cooled and whipped one batch at a time, just the
