WHY THIS WEBSITE?
Because we want to see more American jobs. And so do you. Take a look at your letters. Let's remember American business- large and more, out there struggling. Seventy percent of jobs in this country are provided by small business. Let's help.
How did we start? My husband and I, both of us retired, went shopping in August of 2007 for a gift for our young grandson. We could not find one shirt made in America. We decided to try to do something about it. So here is the report. You can't pay to get on it but if it's made in America, send the details.
There are lots of families represented here, including ours, who are keeping factory doors open despite the tough competition. Could they save on labor costs having the products made in a foreign country? Yes. But they choose not to. They want to see more Now Hiring signs along the highways of America, providing jobs for all of us.
One thing we feel sure of. There's inspiration to be found on the websites we send you to, in the stories you will read of these entrepreneurs, how they started, 100 years ago, or a month ago, taking risks, the evolution of their products, their struggles, their dedication, building something out of nothing.
They are keeping us working. Mortgages paid. Food on the table. We need to buy their products. We need to keep America strong. Remember what JFK told us. "Don't ask what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country"
So where the devil are you? Did you buy American this week? Did you get a dozen people to use this website? DO SOMETHING!

Some of you want to know more about us, so here it is: our grandchildren range in age from 16 to 24, girls and boys, two working, two in college, one in high school. WG and I, live in a rural area of New England, less than a mile from where the July 24, 2008 tornado touched down.
Although we used to be very social people, always having company or visiting, now we live more like recluses, with health issues keeping us occupied. In winter, WG does things like making cold frames, which you can see elsewhere on this site, running the snow blower, filling the generator during power failures.
I used to keep a portion of each day for walks in the woods with the big dog but lost the noble creature the summer of 2009 when he died of cancer. He was a gentle giant and a loving companion. I miss him terribly. We adopted a shelter dog in November. What a job! More later.
So there you have it, a peek into our lives. Finding stuff and researching for you so it is bona fide American and reasonably reliable eats up a lot of time. So buy American where you can and tell people to use this website. If you don' do it, no one else will.

WE NEED HELP. You know very well what easily gets 1,000 hits or more a day:sleaze. We are about family values and the future for our children and grandchildren. (I have five.) Please tell your friends about the website. Urge them to spread the word, so we can continue. All we need is another 100 visitors each day. Will you help us? Copy this link and email it to your friends.http://americanmadeyes.com Tell them:1) which pages you like best. 2)which pages need more listings and ask them to search for us and email us 3)what can we do to make this website more useful. And remember to be careful what you believe. Lots of websites showing stars and stripes and red white and blue does not necessarily mean Made in the USA. There is no control for what is written on the websites. Let the buyer beware.
